We can't believe it, but CybFest NW 2020 starts tomorrow! It's been
exciting for us to watch this event come together with two full days of
great content.
We already talked about all of the great panels we have lined up, so today
we wanted to talk about our contests. Contests have been a huge part of
CybFest NW, going all the way back to its roots in CybCon. Obviously,
things will be a little different this year, but we're aiming to be as
adaptable as our favorite alien robots.
You can see all of the contest details here:
- Casual Trivia -- Join us for a few rounds of low-stakes Transformers trivia for all fans
- '86 Movie Trivia -- Come prepared for an intense round of trivia focused entirely on the 1986 film, The Transformers: The Movie
- Transforming -- In keeping with the spirit of our traditional transforming contest, the exact details will be revealed at the event, but we're looking to get together on the stream with some members of the community for some transforming fun
Be sure to clear your schedule, set up a comfortable spot, and plan to tune in this Saturday and Sunday. We can't wait to "see" all of you then!

We want to send out a big "Thank You" to all the members of the local
Transformers community that have helped us fill out the schedule for our
2020 Community Streaming Event. Both days are going to be full of great
content.
Today, we wanted to highlight all of the great panels that you will be
seeing this weekend. This is an aspect of the show we have been working
to grow in recent years, and this year is sure to not disappoint. We have
some roundtable discussions, presentations from fans that have produced
official and unofficial media, and opportunities to talk about the past
and future of CybFest NW. You can see all of the panel details here:
but here are a few highlights:
- The Return of the The Legacy of The Transformers: The Movie -- A roundtable discussion looking back on the centerpiece of Transformers G1 and the legacy it still has on the franchise today.
- They Came from Seattle: CosmicDanger & Blacky Shepherd Artist Spotlight -- A discussion with two local Transformers artist who are going to have their work included in an offical Transformers comic book from IDW.
- The Legacy of CybCon -- A look back at CybCon, the predecessor to CybFest NW which ran for an amazing 13 years, and the impact it had on the local Transformers community
- Producing Content: When Official Avenues Fail -- A presentation on how failure doesn't have to be the end but can instead be the fuel to inspire you to achieve something amazing and new.

Our second window of sign-ups for our
CybFest NW 2020 community streaming event is now open! This round of
invites went to everyone who pre-registered as a dealer or attendee for a
past CybFest NW show. Those interested can sign up to host a panel,
roundtable discussion, or contest. Dealer and artist streams are also an
option. If you want to host an activity, but it doesn't fit into one of
these categories, please send an e-mail to
registration@cybfestnw.com,
and we would love to discuss your idea.
Reservations are still limited to one per person/activity at this time. We
will open remaining spots next week for general registration. At that
point, we will also allow people to sign up for more than one timeslot,
schedule permitting.
If you have any questions about the sign-up process, please send them to
registration@cybfestnw.com.
Thank you all for being part of CybFest NW 2020. We'll "see" you all in

Our first window of sign-ups for our
CybFest NW 2020 community streaming event is now open! As we mentioned on
Monday, we are opening sign-ups gradually in order to best gauge demand.
The first round of invites went out to our past CybFest NW dealers and
artists to reserve timeslots for dealer and artist streams in our
schedule. We will follow up with everyone who reserves a spot to get the
additional information we need when we publish our finalized schedule.
Note that we are limiting reservations to one per person/activity at this
time.
The next round of invites will go out on Saturday, 6/20, to all past
CybFest NW dealers and attendees. This next round will also include the
option to sign up for other types of activities such as panels, contests,
and roundtable discussions. We will open remaining spots next week for
general registration. At that point, we will also allow people to sign up
for more than one timeslot, schedule permitting.
If you have any questions about the sign-up process, please send them to
registration@cybfestnw.com.
Thank you all for being part of CybFest NW 2020. We're looking forward to
August!

The CybFest NW organizers have been discussing the current situation with
the lockdown and weighing options regarding the likelihood of having
businesses sufficiently opened in time for CybFest NW this year. While we
are very glad to see gradual progress being made toward fully opening up
the economy, there is a very real possibility that King County (where
CybFest NW is held) will still not have made sufficient progress for
CybFest NW to be held in person. Therefore, we have decided to move
CybFest NW 2020 to an all-virtual show. It's not all bad news, though,
because this year CybFest NW will take place over both Saturday AND
Sunday! The free CybFest NW 2020 livestream will be active on August 1st
and 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
There are many aspects to CybFest NW, from the dealer room to the
contests, panels, and raffles. However, the most important aspect for us
is the thing that started the very first CybCon many years ago: the local
Transformers community here in the Pacific Northwest. To that end, we
have decided on a plan for this year's convention that places the local
community at the forefront. We have a streaming schedule, and we want to
invite the community to help us fill it. Do you want to have a live
dealer show and show off what you were planning to sell at this year's
CybFest NW? Do you have an idea for a panel or roundtable discussion that
you would like to host? Do you want to get together with some of your
artist friends for a livestream? We'll have sign-ups available later this
week. To best gauge demand, we will first open sign-up to our local
dealers on Thursday 6/18 followed by other activities a couple of days
later on Saturday 6/20. Of course, we will be including many of our
traditional contests in the schedule, so stay tuned for details on how
those will be handled. All spots will be free of charge and allocated on
a first-come, first-served basis.
We are certainly disappointed about not getting to see everyone in person
again this year, but we are very excited about this plan and still being
able to interact with everyone again in August. Plus, based on what we
learn, this will open some new ways to get the CybFest NW community
together throughout the year. The challenges of this year will just lead
to you all seeing more of us in the future.
Stay well, stay safe, and we can't wait to "see" all of you in August!

We have been discussing what CybFest NW 2020 will look like and wanted to
share our progress with you in this time of uncertainty. Our goal has
always been and always will be to bring you the most Transformers-themed
fun possible, and this year will be no exception, regardless of what the
world looks like in August. We have been exploring all avenues for CybFest
NW, including the possibility of a virtual convention, and have resolved
to make a decision about what the con will look like by June 1st.
We're excited to see you at CybFest NW this year, no matter what it looks
like!

Hey CybFest NW fans,
We know you're waiting for an update from us. Our initial plan was to
launch registration at the end of March, but with the way the world is
right now, we would like to hold off for a little longer.
Our current plan is to proceed with CybFest NW 2020 as scheduled, but if
it becomes unsafe or irresponsible to do so, we will re-evaluate
postponing this year's CybFest NW.
We hope you understand, and we hope you and yours are happy and healthy in
this difficult time.
Regards,
The CybFest NW 2020 Team
